Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started with therapy?

Getting started is simple. Contact our team by phone or through our online contact form, and we will help guide you through the intake process. We will discuss your needs, answer any questions, verify insurance benefits if applicable, and help connect you with a therapist who is the right fit.

Do you accept insurance and Medi-Cal?

Yes. Calmura Counseling & Wellness accepts eligible Medi-Cal plans and a variety of insurance options. Our team can help verify your benefits and provide information about your coverage before beginning services. We also offer self-pay options and sliding scale availability when possible.

What types of therapy services do you provide?

We provide trauma-informed, evidence-based therapy services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Our services support individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, stress, life transitions, and emotional regulation difficulties.

What can I expect during my first therapy appointment?

Your first session is an opportunity for you and your therapist to get to know each other, discuss what brings you to therapy, review your goals, and begin creating a plan for treatment. Your therapist will work with you at a pace that feels comfortable and supportive.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes. Therapy sessions are confidential and protected by privacy laws and professional ethical standards. There are limited exceptions to confidentiality, which your therapist will review with you during the beginning stages of treatment.

Do you offer in-person and virtual therapy?

Yes. Calmura Counseling & Wellness offers both in-person and telehealth appointments when clinically appropriate and available. Our goal is to provide flexible options that make accessing mental health care easier and more convenient.
